BASKETBALL SQUAD CUT TO FOURTEEN PLAYERS

FIVE RETURNING VETERANS TO BE NUCLEUS OF TEAM

After the usual drill yesterday afternoon, Coach Wesley Fesley pared the Varsity basketball squad to fourteen men in preparation for the team's first tilt against Boston University which will be played in the New Indoor Athletic Building gymnasium a week from today.

The following men were retained on the squad: Forwards, George V. Comfort '36, Richard C. Ernst '36, Frank W. Jones '35, William Henderson '34, Eugene W. Merry '34, and H. John Adzigian '36; Centers, Richard C. Boys '35, and Richard K. Morse '35; Guards, Captain Joseph F. Ferriter '34, James G. Grady '36, Richard G. Fletcher '35, Donald B. Bates '35, Samuel S. Greeley '36, and Walter A. White '36.

Five returning veterans this year are: Merry, Boys, Henderson, Captain Ferriter, and Fletcher. More comes up from the Jayvees.

Six of the 14 members of the squad are sophomores of whom a substantial nucleus will be built up as a mainstay for future teams. Four men from the class of 1936 played on last year's freshman team and these are Comfort, who captained the quintet, Ernst, Grady, and Greeley.

The schedule this year is much harder than any played by the team in recent years and is as follows: Wednesday, Dec. 13, B.U.; Saturday, Dec. 16, Dartmouth at Hanover; Tuesday, Dec. 19, Princeton; Saturday, Jan. 6, Pennsylvania at Philadelphia; Wednesday, Jan. 10, Yale; Saturday, Jan. 13, Pennsylvania; Wednesday, Jan. 17, M.I.T.; Saturday Jan. 20, Clark University; Saturday, Jan. 27, B.U. at Boston; Saturday, Feb. 3, Lowell Textile; Wednesday, Feb. 7, Columbia; Friday, Feb. 9, Princeton at Princeton; Saturday, Feb. 10, Swarthmore at Swarthmore; Wednesday, Feb. 14, Tufts; Friday, Feb. 16, Providence College; Wednesday, Feb. 22, Cornell at Ithaca; Friday, Feb. 24, Brown at Providence; Tuesday, Feb. 28, New Hampshire; Saturday, Mar. 3, Dartmouth; Wednesday, Mar. 7, Columbia at New York; Saturday, Mar. 10, Cornell; Wednesday, Mar. 17, Yale at New Haven.
