FIVE CREWS WORK OUT IN TANK NEXT FOUR WEEKS

FOUR VETERANS OF YALE RACE IN FIVE O'CLOCK CREW

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Coach Whiteside boated five varsity crews in the Newell Boat House tank yesterday as the Harvard varsity oarsmen started preparation for the spring regattas. Until the crews get on the Charles River about March 6 the men will be boated according to the time which their class and laboratory schedules make it possible for them to row.

Whiteside managed to have a crew row at 5 o'clock last night which had Captain Bancroft at 5, Bacon at 6, Cassedy at stroke, and Yeomans at 2, all members of the four-mile crew which defeated Yale at New London last year. Three other veterans of that crew did not row. Hallowell at 4 and Holcombe at bow will not row until next week and Saltonstall, veteran seven, will not be available for crew until the varsity hockey season ends.

All of these men have been rowing informally this winter under Whiteside. Daily workouts have been held on the machines and in the tank at the boathouse.
