(The Daily Record extends its warmest congratulations to former Mayor James M. Curley upon his splendid personal triumph in winning the Democratic nominative for Governor.

On the morning of City elections day, Nov. 5, 1929, when Mr. Curley was running of third term as Mayor, the Daily Record, which had endorsed his candidacy, said to the Boston voters:

"Curley will sweep the town today, hang up a mark for other candidates to aim at in the years to come, be hailed and proclaimed tomorrow as one of the leaders of his party in the East."

Mr. Curley was elected, just as the Daily Record desired and predicted.

Two days before the Democratic State convention last June the Daily Record called for the nomination of the best man available. It said that the best man, from all standpoints, was Mr. Curley. It added:

"James M. Curley made a great Mayor. He will make a great Governor. Nominate him."

Here is what Mr. Curley said about the Daily Record and its support of the primary candidacy:

"I am deeply grateful for the splendid support of the Daily Record, whose great influence in Boston and throughout the entire State of Massachusetts was a most important factor in my success."

Congratulations again, Mr. Curley, to you and to the intelligent Massachusetts Democracy which nominated you. Daily Record.
