Cornel West, Harvard Affiliates Call for University to Divest from ‘Israeli Apartheid’ at Rally
Harold M. Westergaard, professor of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics at the University of Illinois, and federal technical expert on the construction of the Boulder Dam, has been appointed Gordon McKay Professor of Civil Engineering at Harvard. The appointment will take effect next fall.
Professor Westergaard has done most of his research in the field of reenforced concrete. Besides being connected with Boulder Dam, he has worked on the construction of roads. He is a member of the American Concrete Institute, and was awarded the Watson Medal of the Institute in 1921.
After practicing in Europe he came to the United States in 1914 and started teaching in 1916.
