France Rushes Warships

PARIS--Navy Minister Cesar Campinchi today announced that 340,000 tons of new French warships will be rushed to completion to give the coordinated fleets of Great Britain and France a 36 per cent tonnage superiority over the Rome-Berlin axis before the end of 1942.

At the same time Foreign Minister Georges Bonnet publicly told Italy, in a speech before the Chamber of Deputies, that any surprise move intended to oblige France to code territory can lead only to armed conflict."
