Governor Leverett Saltonstall '14 will not receive an honorary degree June 22, it was learned last night, when Jerome D. Greene '96 secretary of the Corporation disclosed that the Board of Overseers never confers degrees upon its own members, Governor Saltonstall is at present a member of the Board.
The tradition has been not to officially announce the selections for honorary degrees until the morning of Commencement Day, Governor Saltonstall's name had been mentioned as a choice for an honorary award since, besides his position as governor, he is Chief Marshal for the Commencement exercises, and secretary of the Class of 1914, which is helding its 25th reunion during Commencement Week.
