Wrestlers Grapple Confident Tigermen on Princeton Mats

By William W. Tyng

Against a strong and supremely confident Tiger contingent. The Crimson matemen will have the most difficulty match of the season so far at Princeton today.

A "layoff" during exam period has given the squad a chance to improve conditioning and polish up on form.

Reliable report from the Princeton camp shows the Nassau team confident of a victory. What the confidence is based on is another matter. Last year the Bengals left Cambridge on the heavy end of a 15 1/2 - 14 1/2 score, after a close struggle. This year the Harvard aggregation has been improved in nearly every weight to such a point that they are heavy favorites, even over a good Princeton outfit.

Harding Opponent Star

The weak point for the Crimson mat-men will probably be wherever Harding, stellar Bengal, wrestles. He could conceivably wrestle at 145 and quite as conceivably wrestle at 121. In other words he has four potential opponents anticipating a hard match. Actually he will most likely grapple in the 128 pound class where he would meet Jimmy Redmon. Although he would have to be slated a favorite over the Crimson Sophomore, if he wins it will be a hard match.

Ted Schoenberg has reduced to enter the 121 pound class, where he is more than likely to make up for his defeat at the hands of the Bengals last year. At 136, Ray Stone presents a question mark this trip. He is a hard working wrestler in addition to being a tough fighter and a victory on his part would be hard earned.

Next Three Weights Strong

Hope flashes brilliantly through the next three weights, where Captain Bill Daughaday, Bruce Richardson (who both won their matches last year), and Sophomore Dick Thomas will hold forth. The most interesting of these three will probably be Bruce Richardson's match. This will mark the first match, he has taken part in this season. He will hold forth at 145, while Dick Thomas will go up to 155 and Bill Daughaday will be in his usual weight, 165.

Duncan Longcope is by no means a dull light on the horizon this week although he did lose to Army the last time he wrestled. He will be grappling in his proper weight this time, 175, and his often brilliant wrestling form should tell considerably in the final result. In addition to this, Tudor Gardiner, back in wrestling trim, will be in the unlimited weight, which should bolster that position a great deal though it will have to go far to match the weight as Chief Boston defended it last year.

While the Varsity goes on its weekend trip, the Freshmen will encounter a strong Andover team in the Indoor Athletic Building. While the Yard lings have not shown brilliantly this year, to say the least, their work over the last few weeks should make them much stronger.
