Merriman Shares Lecture Platform With Red Setter

Appearing in the Music Building yesterday to sketch the cultural background of the Middle Ages for Music 1 students, Roger B. Merriman, Gurney Professor of History and Master of Eliot House, co-starred with an intruder in the form of a large Irish Setter.

"Frisky's" appearance on the same platform with the emmisary from the canine kingdom occured at the start of his lecture, when the red dog wandered into the ball, and, to the thundering applause of students, ascended the platform.

"I remember," said Merriman, "a similar occurrence in my own undergraduate days. The professor threatened an hour exam if the animal wasn't out of the hall in ten seconds. He was thrown out the window."
