‘The Architect of the Whole Plan’: Harvard Law Graduate Ken Chesebro’s Path to Jan. 6
Sparked by the double victory of Don Donahue in the 220-yard low hurdles and 120-yard high hurdles, Coach Jaakko Mikkola's Sophomore-studded track squad nosed into third place of the Seventh Annual Heptagonals Saturday afternoon in Princeton's Palmer Stadium.
Far from surprised or disappointed at the cindermen's showing. Mikkola commented, "I felt that they were coming alone nicely, and can only say they did very well." In contrast to last year's Senior outfit which only managed to snare a fifth in the Heps, the showing by this Sophomore group was better than expected.
Penn Wins
With its 39 points, the Crimson team, trailed by 19 points a powerful Penn aggregation which won six firsts and came through with the additional tallies to romp to its first Ivy League classic win. The Tigers swept into second place with 42 1/2 points, and the Elis trailed the Crimson by half a dozen.
For four and one-half hours before a sprinkling of track and field enthusiasts, the meet ran off almost as was exrected, with the favorites having little difficulty taking their specialities.
Big event for the Crimson unit was the 120-yard high hurdles, with Donahue picking up a first, and closely followed through the tape by teammate Don MacKinnon. Donahue's time was 15 seconds.
Relay Team Takes Third
Harvard's other points were gained the slow way via the fourth and fifth places. Bob Houghton's third in the one mile run, and Mitchell Ford's tie for second in the pole vault being the only exceptions. The relay team managed to garner a third behind fast-stepping Penn and Princeton quartets.
The Crimson Freshmen were swamped under a wave of 12 out of 15 firsts by the Bulldog pups, finally yielding 87 1/2 to 47 1/2 in the thirty-fourth dual track meeting of the two cinder squads Saturday afternoon at New Haven.
