Men Not Leaving in June Must Confer With Advisors

Final Summer Plans Due on January 24

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Details of the University's program to determine what undergraduates intend to do this summer were released last night in an effort to accelerate reports from the students before the January 24 deadline.

All Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors who are not candidates for a degree this spring must fill out a card indicating whether they intend to enter Summer School and if so what courses they will take. These cards must be returned to the tutors and advisors.

Since the list of courses to be offered by the Summer School is not yet definite, students are required to make a choice from the current Announcement of Courses, even though there is no assurance that any specific course will be offered.

Statement Follows

The statement released by Dean Phelps last night follows:

"Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors who are not candidates for the degree in June, 1942 are required to consult their tutors or advisers in the next few days about their plans for the Summer Term of the College. Cards with space for preliminary lists of courses have been distributed to the various departments, and must be completed and in the hands of the tutors or advisers by January 24. The cards are not to be returned to University Hall by the students, who should leave their cards with their tutors or advisers.

"Men not intending to come back for study in the summer need only to check on the cards a statement confirming this. All men who expect to attend either or both of the six-week terms must indicate this, and fill in the names of the courses they would like to take, provided these courses are given. The preliminary lists are arranged like the regular undergraduate study-cards, and require the names of the courses to be written twice.

"A student can take in the Summer. Term a maximum of two full courses, or four half-courses. Students may enroll, if they wish, for only one of the two six-week session, the first of which is scheduled to open on June 29 11 days after Commencement and two and one-half weeks after the last final examination.

Choice Not Final

"Students must use the current Announcement of Courses in drawing up their tentative plan of study for the summer, since the final list of course offerings will be based in large part on the preliminary lists. There is, of course no guarantee that any specific course will be given in the Summer Term, and students will have to fill out their final choice of course when they enroll in June or August for the Summer Term.

"The present cards also include a question as to the probable time at which students will complete their work for the Bachelor's degree. This will supply the Office with important information about the extent to which undergraduates expect to enter accelerated programs.

"Men in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences will also be requested to fill out similar cards. The cards for graduate students will be distributed and collected through the departments."
