‘The Architect of the Whole Plan’: Harvard Law Graduate Ken Chesebro’s Path to Jan. 6
With only mopping-up operations remaining, a total of $9,168 has been collected in the Harvard Service Fund Drive, Chairman John P. Kennedy, Jr. '44 announced last night. Original pledges came to $12,975 and a goal of $14,000 had been set.
Winthrop still leads the House with 95 percent of the pledges collected, adding up to $1,247. No other House went over the 90 mark, with Kirkland beating out three other groups for second place with 85 percent and $898.
Yardlings Lead
Out-of-House Freshmen contributed the largest single lump, $1,887, which amounted to 85 percent of their pledges. Also contributing 85 percent were Lowell with $1,169 and Adams with $824.
Right behind with 82 percent and $971 is Leverett, but the drop becomes sharp at this point. Eliot, next in line, has collected only 74 percent, although the total for the House is $1,034, and Dunster's figures are 44 percent and $420. The clubs have not reported as yet.
Commuters Pledge $2,000
The drive has been least-successful with the Commuters. Although exact figures were not available, Kennedy said that their percentage was by far the lowest, and that $2,000 had been pledged.
Commenting on the success of the drive to date, Kennedy stated that although "some Houses, particularly Winthrop, have been most gratifying in their response, we will continue to work on the others. In Eliot, several large entries have not reported yet, while Dunster still needs a lot of canvassing. All men in the House have been contacted, but it is difficult to get in touch with the commuters."
