RADCLIFFE READY FOR ENEMY BOMBS
Details of Air Raid System Rapidly Nearing Perfection
Radcliffe awaits Cambridge's first air raid with confidence in a fast-developing ARP system, with grounds, buildings, and personel prepared for the worst in bombs, incendiaries, or paratroops.
Beating Harvard to the gun, Radcliffe, has already had a satisfactory air-raid drill, and now reports itself well able to cope with any emergency that may arise during a blackout or an actual raid.
Private Defense System
With the exceptions of those of their number who received instruction in the Air Raid Warden's course given here at Harvard, the girls have organized their own defense system. Their preparation includes Red Cross courses administered by certified student instructors, training in the care of refugee babies, and hints on how to run a canteen.
Shelters have been established in the basements of two dormitories, and in three buildings in the lower yard. Five out of seven of the shelters are equipped with mobile first aid units and telephones.
