After a meeting last Tuesday night, the Freshman Committee has definitely decided to hold this years Jubilee in Memorial Hall. At the same time they tentatively scheduled the big dance on May 19 instead of May 20, as previously planned. The final decision on the date of the Jubilee has been temporarily postponed pending arrangements now being carried on.
Whether Memorial Hall will be decorated by professional interior decorators, as it was last year, or by members of the committee, has not been announced. Also there is a considerable demand this year for a big name band, instead of compromising on a little known orchestra, whose performance is more or less of a chance for the people attending. But overly ambitious plans have been ruled out by a University ruling that a maximum of $900 is to be spent on the band for the Freshman Jubilee. This may curtail the Committee's field of choice among well-known orchestras considerably, especially because of present-day high fees.
Last year's Jubilee, headed by Douglas Danner NROTC, of Eliot House, featured Mal Hallett's 13-piece band, playing from 10 to 2 o'clock. Vocal honors were handled by Terry Russell, who sang all her numbers on request and after 10 o'clock the festivities were broadcast over the Crimson Network. Negotiations for the band have already begun and a definite decision on the date and the time is to be expected soon.
