ALBENERI TRIO PLAYS SEPT. 8

Famous Group Plans Free Concert at Sanders Theatre

Sponsored by the Harvard University department of Music, the Albeneri Trio will give a free concert in the Sanders Theatre on September 8 at 8:30 o'clock. The trio, composed of Alexander Schneider, Violin, Benar Heifitz, 'Cello, and Erich I. Kahn, Piano, will play selections from Piston, Ravel, and Schubert.

Following the concert, the Albeneri Trio will begin a concert tour of the country's major cities, and will play in New York under the sponsorship of the New Friends of Music.

Former concertmaster of the Symphony Orchestras of Frankfort, Saarbrucken, and Hamburg, Alexander Schneider was second violinist of the famed Budapest Quartet, which toured Europe, North Africa, the East Indies, Australia and America with a success yet unequalled by any other chamber organization.

Benar Heifitz is equally famous, holding the position of First Cellist with the N.B.C. Symphony Orchestra under Arturo Toscanini. Erich I. Kahn is known as a composer of many orchestral pieces and chamber music works, and toured France, Belgium, Holland and England in his pianistic activity.
