Crimson Booters Seek Initial Win, Play Tufts Today

Coach MacDonald Makes Few Changes in Starting Lineup For Second Game of Season

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Featuring a starting lineup essentially the same as that which opened the season against Worcester Polytech last week, the Varsity soccer team will take on a traditionally strong outfit from Tufts at 12:30 on the Business School Field. The Crimson will go into the contest with a record of one tie against no wins or losses.

Although the advance dope had it that this year's soccer eleven was loaded with reserves, it appears now that the lack of enough experienced replacements will be Coach MacDonald's main problem this afternoon. Two fullbacks, Mike Hatton and Al Merck, who saw action last Saturday will not be available today; likewise, Dave Ogden, nominee for the starting center halfback post has an injured leg and it is doubtful if he will play the full game.

Forward Subs On Hand

The forward line will not lack replacements, however, being two deep at every position. For his right wing MacDonald will start Bob Smith or Jose del Rio with Gaston Azcarraga opening at the inside right slot. Last week's high scorer, Phil Potter, will again be at center forward, with his running mate, captain Carlos Blanco at left inside. Either Bill Dawson or Arnold Corrigan will be on the left wing.

Kenny Chun, 117 pounder from Shanghai, Hugh Morse, and Curtis Cate are the main reserves for the attack. Starting at the halfback positions are Hunt Mavor, Ogden, and Bob Carswell with Gus Sea-mans in reserve. Bob Purinton and dick Forster will be the fullbacks with Dick Harshman in the nets.

An hour after the Varsity game gets under way the Freshman soccer team goes out for its second win of the season against Tabor Academy on the Business School Field.
