Benes Leads Pack in Waban Cycle Classic

Leading a field of 18 cyclists, 17 of whom crossed the Waban finish line, Vaclav E. Benes '50 triumphed in the Wellesley bike classic yesterday, going the 14 mile distance in nine minutes and 32 seconds.

The reward of the former Czech president's nephew, and eventually the same for even the one unlucky rider stopped by a flat, was not the kiss of former years but a cookie and a cup of cider. Later the weary peddlers also enjoyed a brief picnic with the Wellesley greeting committee.
