Putnam Leads Crimson Sailors In 50-38 Win Over Yale Tars

Fog, rain, and a dearth of wind failed to stop the Yacht Club Saturday as it sailed to a 50 to 38 win over the Yale dinghy team on the Thames at New London.

Pete Putnam, who edged out Yale ace Bobby Monetti in the second race of the afternoon, was the star of the contest, placing first for the Crimson in both events of a meet that was hampered because of very light winds.

The Crimson eked out a win in the first race by a 24 to 20 score, and then went on to clinch the meet with a somewhat more substantial 26 to 18 victory in the second contest.
