Change, no stranger to Claverly Hall, is again present in the old Gold Coast dormitory, which has seen 54 years of Harvard evolution. Workmen are placing twentieth-century steel beams along-side the one-time glistening mahogany walls, as they work to bolster up the sagging walls.

Corridors on three floors will be 4 to 5 inches narrower, when the new steel beams, which will rest on concrete piers in the basement, are finally in place.
