Sixteen Freshman intramural touch football teams will warm up today and tomorrow at Soldiers Field for actual league competition which starts Monday.
Dorms which have listed teams with the Freshman Athletic Council include Thayer South, Middle, and North; Weld South and North; Matthews South and North; Wigglesworth A--D and E--H; Grays; Hollis; Straus; Mower; Lionel; Stoughton; and Holworthy. Additional entries are expected by the Council. Captains and managers will be elected by each team and will be announced shortly.
Action this week is strictly informal. Today's program includes Mower vs. Lionel on field A, and Stoughton vs. Holworthy on field B, both at 2 p.m.; and Thayer North vs. Matthews North on field A, and Thayer South vs. Matthews South on field B at 3 p.m.
Tomorrow, Thayer Middle will play Weld North on field A and Weld South will meet Wigglesworth A--D on field B at 2 p.m. An hour later, it will be Wigglesworth E--H vs. Grays on field A, and Hollis vs. Straus on field B.
The newly-formed Freshman Athletic Council hopes to match the winning dorm team with Yale's top unit here the weekend of the Yale game. A full scale basketball program is currently being mapped out for this winter.
