Friedrich Attacks 'Dismal' Foreign Policy, U.S. Press

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Carl J. Friedrich, professor of Government, blasted last night the State Department, Congress, and the press for their "dismal failure" in the realm of foreign affairs. He spoke before an overflow crowd of 200 in the Littauer Auditorium.

Demanding that "the United States accept major responsibility if there is another war," Professor Friedrich, who served as consultant to the American Military Government in Germany, outlined a three-point program for peace. He considered a prospect of world government "impossible" since "no one has solved the problem of how to create a workable federation."

The professor was "absolutely behind the Marshall Plan" as a constructive means of rebuilding Europe. He claimed "it represents a positive policy which is in the interest of the United States" and "that is what a foreign policy is for."
