One hundred one crew candidates tramped through the snow to Nowell Boathouse last night to hear stern words from Coach Tom Bolles. "Every rowing college in the country is out to beat us. We can make any college's season a success by losing to them," he said.
Bolles outlined the season's schedule after Captain Paul Knaplund and head manager Frank MacShane had spoken to the meeting. The first race of the season is slated for April 24, and the two closing events scheduled are the 96th New London regatta on June 25, and the Olympic trials now set for Philadelphia the following week.
Meanwhile, in the game room of the Varsity Club, lacrosse coach Bob Maddux was agreeably surprised when 65 prospective players attended the organizational meeting of the old Indian game.
With the early spring vacation and the opening game against Princeton on March 30, Maddux pleaded for a large turnout at the nightly practice sessions in Briggs Cage.
