The winter track season gets underway at 4:15 p.m. this afternoon in Briggs Cage when varsity mile and two-mile relay teams, as well as a freshman mile team, take on strong aggregations from Rhode Island State and Brown. The meet is informal.

Four of the eight varsity runners are sophomores all members of last year's undefeated freshman team. Of these, Ed Grutzner, Ron Harman, and Tom McGrath will run in the mile contest along with senior Harvey Thayer.

Sophomore Dave Gregory, the Crimson's top cross country runner this fall, will run third for the two-mile relay team. In this event. Al Ruby will lead off, followed by Bill Baker and Gregory, while George Williams will hold the anchor position.

Both Brown and Rhode Island are known to be powerful in the middle and long distances. Brown, led by the two fleet Toby brothers, throttled Rhode Island last winter after the Rams had administered the Crimson a severe defeat.
