Wrestler Connors Given Chance to Fill Louria's Post

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Tom Connors, short, stocky 165-pound wrestler from Roxbury Latin, gets second crack at the position left open by Don Louria's graduation when the Crimson makes its third road trip of the season to Brown one week from today.

Stan Thompson, who competed at 165 against Army, resisted Connors' challenge in practice yesterday and will continue at that weight Saturday when Dartmouth visits the Blockhouse mats.

Good Record

Connors wrestled for five years at Roxbury, starting at 128, and was stopped only once. Last year he went undefeated in freshman competition. Connors has been out for the varsity only since the start of the term, but his condition is steadily improving.

The 128-pound class is still up in the air. Dave Smith has received the medical staff's green light but the Crimson probably won't need him to beat Dartmouth. Coach Butch Jordan may not want Smith to tempt a recurrence of his arm injury.

The 128 and 130 pound men will be chosen from among Smith, Bob Abboud, and Dave Coombs, pending today's final tryouts.
