College Debaters Meet Cambridge Here Next Month

A team from Cambridge University, England, will meet Crimson debaters in Sanders Theater March 24 to contend that the American colonies should never have left the British Empire.

In their last appearance at Harvard Cambridge debaters defeated the Crimson in the spring of 1947 on the subject; "Resolved, That the advantages to be gained from nationalization of basic industries would be overwhelming."

J. Philip Bahn '49 and Edward F. Burke '50 won positions on this year's Harvard team in tryouts held yesterday afternoon in the Germanic Museum. John H. Stutter '52 will be an alternate.

The tryouts were judged by George K. Gardner '11, professor of Law; Frederick C. Packard '20, associate professor of Public Speaking; Gerard Mandelbaum 2L, and Harold M. Williams 3L.
