Deacon Nine Tops Commuters, 10-2

Kirkland's baseball team battled to a 10 to 2 victory over Dudley yesterday, but last place Dunster didn't even dare face Adams and lost by default.

The Deacons had the most fun in the third inning when they made seven hits and six runs, but eight Dudley errors and an invalid Commuter infield made the game comfortable for Kirkland all along.

Winning pitcher Jim Gabler allowed Dudley only one extra-base hit, a triple by Herb Lewis. Ed Smith, Miller Higgins, and Fred Wagon rapped out doubles for Kirkland.

In softball Lowell downed Leverett, 10 to 5, and Winthrop slammed Eliot, 7 to 2.

Lowell blanked Budley, 5 to 0, and Winthrop defeated Leverett, 4 to 1, in tennis.
