Early Risers Strike Morass at Wellesley

Leaden skies and a sodden downpour washed out Wellesley's annual hoop race yesterday. The downhill event was rescheduled for 7 a.m. tomorrow, weather permitting.

Carloads of spectators braved the rain yesterday to attend the annual Waban spectacle, only to be turned away by wet grounds. The Wellesley switchboard was flooded with calls from other prospective watchers checking on the postponement.
