Open and Closed football teams travelled a long way from myth to reality. The myth was entertaining, but the fact is a more solid achievement. This afternoon, players from seven Houses and Dudley will grapple in the Stadium before an audience which did not have to buy tickets. This afternoon, big-time football will indeed be a fable, and "athletics for all" will be more than a mere cliche.
Both the H.A.A. and William J. Bingham deserve credit for making this contest possible. Before the game, the promoters of Closed and Open will present Mr. Bingham a cup in gratitude for his services. Now is the time to show that you like good, amateur football, even if it doesn't have glamour or technical perfection.
