World Opinion of United States Must Improve, Federalists Told

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Dr. Eddy Asirvatham, professor of Missions and Christian Relations at the Boston University School of Theology, told what the other nations of the world expect of the United States, in a speech last night at Phillips Brooks House before the Harvard World Federalists Institute.

He stated that the world wants "speedy liquidation" of the Korean war, a change in the American foreign policy regarding China, and abolition of U.S. imperialism. Impartiality in the Indian-Pakistan dispute, a United Nations that is truly representative of the countries of the world, and a sincere effort toward international disarmament are also urgently needed.

Modern warfare is ruthless and "morally indefensible," according to Dr. Asirvatham. He said that by using these tactics we are fighting atrocity with cruelty and that war may prove to be political suicide for the U.S.

Today the group will hear an address by Inis L. Claude, Jr., instructor in Government, on "The problems of being the United States."
