The varsity tennis team defeated Brown on the Soldiers Field courts Saturday, 8 to 1. Steve Espo won the only match for the Bruins, beating number three man Dave Watts, 4-6, 6-1, 6-2.
All five other Crimson players won their singles matches in straight sets. In doubles, Bob Bramhall and Bill Goodman playing first and Art French and Bayard Robb in second position also won in two sets. Hugh Nawn and Gerry Murphy in the third spot took three sets to triumph, 6-1, 5-7, 6-3.
At the same time, the freshmen, also playing at home, trimmed Brown without losing a set, 9 to 0. It was their second consecutive shutout of the season.
