Jobs Will Abound for Seniors Next Autumn; Salaries at New High

Unlimited opportunities for nearly all college seniors seeking employment, at the highest starting salaries in history, will probably mark 1951, an annual employment survey by the Northwestern Life Insurance Company revealed recently.

Of 106 colleges and universities polled, 97 estimated, on the basis of employer requests at placement offices, that between 90 and 100 percent of their graduating employables will have found positions by October 1.

Average salary increases of between $25 and $50 per month are reported by 104 of the schools. Offers for inexperienced engineers with bachelor's degrees are averaging $300 per month, for a 40 hour week. The nation is now suffering from a shortage of young engineers.
