New England Students Place Fifth in 1951's Draft Tests

New England college students are just about average. A report from the Educational Testing Service which gave the four draft exemption eligibility tests in 1951, shows that the New England Area was fifth out of ten national areas.

The Middle Atlantic States won top honors and deferments when 60 percent of the students there passed the test. Next came the West North Central States, where 57 percent of the students made good. The Pacific coast and East North Central states were tied at 55 percent. Then came New England with 54.
