Over 150 Hear Forum Discuss Study Awards

Edgar F. Shannon, assistant professor of English and former Rhodes Scholar, told a Lamont Forum Room audience last night that the Rhodes awards are a means of fostering the Anglo-Saxon world community.

The meeting was sponsored by the Student Council and was attended by about 150 people.

Dean Leighton and Daniel S. Cheever '39, assistant professor of Government, (above) covered Harvard scholarships and Fulbright Awards. Cheever stressed character and distinction in gaining a Fulbright as well as high academic standing. The deadline for the State Department awards is October 31, except for applications to Australia, New Zealand, or the Union of South Africa.
