Holmes Comes of Age Next Tuesday

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

At least 1,100 people will crowd newly-built Holmes Hall for dedication ceremonies at 3 p.m. next Tuesday. President Jordan of Radcliffe will formally dedicate the dormitory.

Holmes will be open for guests all day, many of whom donated towards its cost. All the dorm facilities will be in use for visitors to observe, including the record library, practice rooms and kitchen. Dorm residents will act as guides.

The dedication ceremonies are open only to those who have received special invitations. These include all donors, Radcliffe trustees and officials, and alumni officials. Contributions from parents were solicited when the fund originally set aside for Holmes proved insufficient.

Holmes is the second of an eventual group of three of which Moors Hall is the central unit. Moors was completed in the spring of 1949.

The construction date for the third dormitory in the unit has not been set yet, according to Radcliffe officials.
