Ed. School Group Will Study Boston Schools

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Boston School Committee voted yesterday to have the Center for Field Studies of the Graduate School of Education begin a survey of the Boston School System shortly.

The survey as proposed will include an analysis of the school population, a study of the present school facilities, and the efficiency of their use in the light of current population trends. Recommendations for possible new buildings, and redistricting will be made. The cost of the study will be about $10,000.

The Center for Field Studies is a non-profit unit which carries out studies on all aspects of education. It has already done surveys of the systems in Taunton, Waltham, Ipswich, Pittsfield, Dalton, Southbore, and Gloucester.

The major problem in Boston is the shifting of population. Rather than recommend construction, the Center will probably submit plans for better utilization of present buildings.
