After falling behind in the early events, the Crimson varsity wrestlers won the last three matches to overcome a seven-point deficit and defeat Amherst, 20 to 13. It was the second consecutive victory for the mat team.

The wrestlers trailed the Lord Jeffs by scores of 10 to 2 and 13 to 7 before winning on a decision and two pins.

With the Crimson trailing by 13 to 7, Chick Chandler, Ken Culbert, and Tim Anderson rallied to conquer the Lord Jeffs in the last three matches. Chandler decisioned his 167-pound opponent for three points. Culbert, a sophomore, scored a three minute pin in his 177-pound match to make the score 15 to 13. Anderson, another sophomore, ended the contest with a pin at 4:18 in his heavyweight match.

Earlier, 123-pound Don Fern opened the meet by losing a decision to the Lord Jeffs' Dan Tank. Don Muggia was pinned in three minutes and Pete Hiam drew in his 137-pound match, making the score at that point 10 to 2, in Amherst's favor. The Crimson's Bud Adams then pinned Ed Tank in 1:33, but Len Miller was decisioned in his 157-pound match.
