Groups Will Drop 'Cross' Petitions

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Petitions condemning the February 5 cross-burning will no longer be circulated, Charles Greenblatt '52, spokesman for the special petition committee, announced last night.

He said that statements, which appeared in the CRIMSON yesterday, by Dean Bender and the involved students "have done much to combat the bad publicity engendered by the incident. Although the petition has received a good initial response," he declared, "further circulation will be discontinued, because the original purposes of the petition have been met."

To date, 11 undergraduate organizations have agreed to sponsor this petition, and a large number of students have signed it.
