Thirty-eight oarsmen will be spending their spring vacations pulling for varsity slots, a roster released yesterday by Coach Harvey Love revealed. The list was issued following the first cut of the spring at Newell Boathouse.
The varsity candidates are:
Jack Avis, John Atherton, Bill Bliss, Link Boyden, Ed Brainard, Larry Brownell, Warren Clark, Clem Despard, Phil DuBois, Dugald Fletcher, Bill Geertsema, George Gifford, Monty Goodale, Tom Hagoort, Lee Henderson, Charley Higginson, Frank Huntington, Ben Jeffries, George Kinnel, Lefty Leftkowitz, and Steve Lincoln.
Others are: Dick Mann, Rupe Maynard, Captain Lou McCagg, J. J. Moore, Frank Peale, Tom Peterson, Rubin Richards, Lee Rouner, Jim Slocum, Dan Simonds, Pete Simonds, Swede Sundquist, Bob Terry, Bob Webb, Kim Whiting, Jeff Wyman, and Pieter Van Thiel.
Several members of last year's second boat failed to make the squad at all this season. The freshman squad was cut to 27 candidates.
