Peroy's Fencers Meet Yale In New Haven Match Today

Coach Rene Peroy leads the varsity and freshman fencers to Yale today for the last time. Retiring this year after teaching fencing here since 1929, the popular Frenchman has amassed a record of 86 wins, 38 losses, and three ties in 23 seasons.

After today, the varsity will fence in the Eastern and National Intercollegiate Championships. Peroy's last team goes into the Yale meet with a record of five wins and one defeat.

Varsity starters will be Captain Eric Sollee, Jan Jertson, Chris Martin, and Steve Chandler, foil; Bob McConaughy, Harry Ziel, and Byron Morton, sabre; and George McNair, Jack Smith, and Les Scherer, epee.

The freshman team, which has won two and lost one will fence Captain Kim McCully, Mike Finklestein, and Ralph Johnson, foil; Chuck Querfeld, Johnny Steinberg, Dave Kenney, and Charles Moore, sabre; and Walt Rawls, Paul Forand, and Carter Pfaelzer, epee.
