It was a big weekend for the varsity sailing team. Not only did Jim Nathanson and Charlie Hoppin win the New England championship at New London, but they also qualified for the National championships to be held at Toledo, Ohio June 17-19.
In addition, Nathanson-who finished as high point man with 75 tallies-qualified for the Final Olympic Trials, which will take place at New London June 14-15.
Butch Horner crewed for Nathanson and Tom Carroll for Hoppin in the close meet, which saw the Crimson overcome a one-point Coast Guard lead in the last two races.
