Chicago May Take Up Football By 1955 After 14 Years' Lapse

The University of Chicago may resume intercollegiate football 14 years after dropping out of the Big Ten.

T. Nelson Metcalf, Chicago's Director of Athletics, announced a plan which calls for part-time play by 1955 and a full schedule in 1956. Metcalf emphasized that the program would be "on a small and reasonable scale."

Metcalf said that the delay is due to scheduling difficulties and the "time needed to assess student backing for the program."
