November 06, 1953
Rates on all Massachusetts telephone service went up 25 cents a month yesterday.
Telephone company spokesmen said the new rate will apply to all types of service.
The increase is the second within a month for some subscribers. Rates for one-party suburban service, semipublic phones, and business phones were raised 25 cents on Oct. 14.
Two-party unlimited suburban, the usual college service, will now cost $6.00 a month plus 20 per cent federal tax.
The new charge will be pro-rated on monthly bills. Bills issued today will cover service up to midnight, Wednesday.
