Lamont to Circulate Books at 4 on Friday

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Books will circulate from Lamont Library at 4 p.m. each Friday until spring reading period as the result of a trial distribution plan announced by Philip J. McNiff, Head Librarian of Lamont.

The move followed the recommendation of a unanimous vote by the Student Council that Lamont change the Friday hours from 9 to 4 p.m. It was aimed at commuters who complained they had to stay too late Friday evening to take out books. No change in the 9 a.m. Saturday return deadline was announced.

"Every book in the library will be available to any student," explained McNiff. "I do not expect any books will be scarce later in the evening. Friday is always a slow night, anyway, and this change will not interfere with general library service."

The Student Council also recommended that the old hours remain in effect over exam and reading periods.
