Bruce Chalmers, Professor of Physical Metallurgy at the University of Toronte, has been named Gorden McKay Professor of Metallurgy here, Provost Buck announced last night.
Also, Ralph D. Kodis, instructor in Applied Science, and James E. Storer, research fellow in electronics, were named assistant professors of Applied Science. Arthur E. Bryson has been appointed assistant professor of Mechanical Engineering.
Chalmers is former head of the Metallurgy Division of the British Atomic Energy Research Establishment at Harwell, England.
He holds the B.Sc., Ph.D., and D.Sc. degrees from the University of London. Chalmers is editor-in-chief of the journal, Acta Metallurgica, and the year-book, Progress in Metal Physical.
Kodis specializes in microwave diffraction; Storer, in electric networks, wave propagation, and antenna radiation. Bryson comes from the Hughes Aircraft Company, where he is a research physicist.
