Backfield Juggled In Crimson Drill

Another backfield shakeup yesterday highlighted the varsity football team's last lengthy drill before its opener against the University of Massachusetts Saturday.

The all-senior group, which Coach Lloyd Jordan announced earlier as a possible starter, was broken up yesterday with sophomore Tony Gianelly moving up to fullback to replace Bob Cowles, who was switched to wingback. Quarterback Jerry Marsh and tailback Joe Conzelman remained with this quartet, although Conzelman was spelled at times by sophomore Matt Botsford.

Working simultaneously with this group was a new combination which included quarterback Phil Haughey, tailback Jim Joslin, wingback Frank White, and fullback Dick Oehmler. One other wingback, John Simourian, is likely to see action Saturday, particularly because Dexter Lewis has been sidelined with a bruised leg.
