Editors' Defection Depletes Staff As Second Comp Begins Tuesday

Virtually the entire staff of the CRIMSON was hired yesterday to take over publication of the Alumni Bulletin. As a result, the remaining members of the newspaper staff have issued a call to interested freshmen, sophomores, and juniors to help fill the depleted staff.

Last Official Task

A competition for the vacancies will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, when the executives of the organization will perform their last official duties before taking over the alumni publication. They will explain the workings of the paper's four boards and outline the eight-week training period.

Even Radcliffe sophomores and juniors will be welcomed to the opening meeting of the news, editorial, business, and photographic boards. No previous experience is necessary for any of the boards, and not even a camera is required of photographic aspirants.

Light Work

Despite the urgent need of manpower, the competitions will start slowly, with work required only three nights a week.

News candidates will learn the mechanics of newspaper publication, from news gathering to headlines. Greater emphasis on current events will be placed on the editorial competition.

Business candidates will learn selling fundamentals and the operation of the newspaper, which grosses $80,000 each year. These interested in photography will get a complete grounding in darkroom and engraving procedure, as well as actual picture-taking, by the skilled photographic staff, rated behind Life Magazine, among others.
