Thayer Asks Dean To Halt Suspension

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Thirty-six residents of Thayer South yesterday presented F. Skiddy von Stade, Jr. '38, Dean of Freshmen, with an unprecedented petition for the reinstatement of Howard A. Andrews '58. Andrews was suspended this week for his part in the explosion that rocked Matthews Hall Saturday night.

Dean von Stade told three representatives of the petitioners that he would submit the petition to the Administrative Board at their meeting next week. He doubted, however, that the Administrative Board would consider the petition sufficient grounds for reopening the case.

Kirby D. Smith '58, one of the three who talked to Dean von Stade, asked only friends and acquaintances of Andrews to sign the petition. "We did not feel it would be right to circulate it in the Union," he said yesterday.
