Malden Catholic Tips Freshman Sextet, 1-0

Brilliant goaltending by Bob Magner, who has allowed only five goals in ten games this season, enabled defending New England champion Malden Catholic High School to edge the freshman sextet, 1 to 0, yesterday on the new rink.

The lone score came in the middle of the second period on a breakaway play by Maiden's forwards after most of the game's action had been centered in Maiden's zone.

The Yardlings fought back in the final period and continued to keep the puck near the visitors' goal with many of Bill White's and Derick Nicholas' shots hitting the posts. But goalie Wagner, credited with 21 saves, maintained his shutout.

The freshman team travels to New Jersey tomorrow to face one of Princeton's weakest sextets in recent years.
