The time and direction of this year's Harvard-Yale boat race have been changed, it was announced yesterday. The event will be rowed upstream instead of downstream, and will start an hour earlier than was previously planned.

The race takes place on the Thames River at New London, Connecticut, on June 19.

The new 6:30 p.m. varsity starting time and the changed direction, which will allow spectators to get a better view of the race, were made possible by a re-evaluation of the tidal conditions that will prevail on race day.
