A million more dollars were given to the University during the second quarter of this fiscal year than last year, President Pusey announced yesterday. A total of $5,656,157 was donated.
A very small percent of the contributions was given into the University as unrestricted funds. Only $2,415 was donated for unspecified use and $144,131 for unrestricted capital expenses.
A Divinity School campaign, which netted $1,200,000 toward endowment, caused most of the donation increase this quarter. The top gifts toward this drive were $500,000 from the Sealantic Fund and $251,774 from the estate of Florence C. Lamont.
The Harvard Fund donated $177,176 to the capital. The Law and Business School funds and the Rockefeller Foundation led the gifts to meet the current expenses of the University.
Funds to establish two professorships approached their goals as the quarter ended.
