Eight Far Eastern public officials are participating in a new University fellowship program to assist "new states" in planning their economic development.

Ford Foundation grants are financing the year of study for the group. Dean Mason of the Graduate School of Public Administration selected the fellowship recipients during a trip to Asia earlier this year.

All eight men have selected courses given by the graduate schools, and will participate in a seminar "Problems of Economic and Political Development" conducted by Professor John K. Galbraith of the Economics Department.

Three of the fellowship holders are from Pakistan, two from India, two from Burma, and one from Indonesia.
